The business that started out as a tinsmith operation in 1870 has grown through five generations to become one of the area’s largest pharmaceutical, FDA Regulated, industrial, fabrication contractors. MDavis offers fully integrated industrial and pharmaceutical services including computer aided design/build, custom shop fabrication, shutdown capabilities, electrical services and general industrial/mechanical maintenance. Today, MDavis continues to thrive and quality remains the cornerstone of the business. MDavis’ reputation for quality and safety is well known throughout the area.

Based in Wilmington, Delaware, MDavis is on-call to our customers 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

HISTORY

MDavis has been a family affair from it’s beginning in 1870 through today in it’s 5th generation. It has grown and diversified with each generation while maintaining quality workmanship and safety.

1870  Edward R. Davis started offering his skills as a tinsmith to local Wilmington, Delaware residents. The Davis family business had begun.

1910 Marcellus Davis Sr., the MDavis namesake, took over the business and expanded it to include a shop and store in addition to tinsmithing services.

1948  Marcellus Davis Jr., Pete, started running the business when his father became ill. Pete focused on paper mill work, as well as warm air heating and air conditioning services. The business continued to grow and many industrial business opportunities were developed.

1974 Charles R. Davis, Pete’s son, took over as head of the family business, and MDavis became incorporated. Services were diversified to include millwrighting, welding, larger shop fabrication services, pipefitting and rigging.

1987 Margaret Davis DelFabbro, Peggy, rejoins MDavis as the 5th generation of the Davis Family to participate in running the business.

Today, Peggy along with Charles Davis and John S. Bonk are the owners of MDavis. Their focus is diversification of services and expanding industries served to include Pharmaceutical and FDA regulated facilities.
