FACILITY 2
This
client contacted MDavis to renovate their existing building to accommodate
new production equipment that was on order and have us complete
the installation. The only challenge was that the new equipment
had not yet been designed.
First
we sent our engineers to Atlanta, GA where the Original Equipment
Manufacturer (OEM) was in the design process of the equipment.
After realizing the scope of the project and receiving some preliminary
dimensions we began to layout the equipment location on our AutoCAD
system. Because of the height requirement of the equipment, the
roof of the existing building had to be increased to accommodate
the new equipment. Our engineers calculated and designed the steel
section of the new roof as well as the associated piping and ductwork.
Installation included these items as well as the process equipment,
HVAC systems and the electrical systems.
Once
the equipment arrived on site our engineers and mechanics along
with the customer caught a number of design flaws with the equipment.
Again our engineers went to work to design and modify the equipment
in order for it to meet the customer's needs. This was truly a design
/ build project.
In
order to meet the customer's schedule we had to allocate additional
manpower to the project. This meant working 6 days per week, 10
hours per day for over a one-year period. This project culminated
with over 180,000 man-hours worked with zero recordable injuries
on the job.
